(This was written rapidly, and without much formal structure. For that I apologize.)
What we fight.
Here is what we fight.
We fight conservatism.
But before we rush off to fight it, we must answer three questions about conservatism, so that we may fight it knowledgeably. It is worth the time to educate yourself about your enemy on every level possible before you fight it.
Joe Manchin, who is running as a Democrat for Governor of WV, apparently commissioned a poll of West Virginia, which shows the race as a toss up. This is the only conventional (non-Zogby) poll we have of West Virginia since September, when Bush was at his peak.
Soon-to-be-Governor Joe Manchin commissioned a poll to see just how much of a lock he is to be the next Governor of West Virginia (bet the farm on it), and one of the questions was who the voter would chose for President. It shows Bush with just a two point lead with 6% still undecided. With the undecided vote expected to break for Kerry by a 2 to 1 margin, this state is dead even with just two weeks to go!
Come election night, West Virginia will be close, but it will also be blue.
This is one of the Texas 5, one of the 5 seats most targetted by DeLay in his redistricting effort. TX 17 is probably the most likely Democratic retention of the 5. To cut to the chase, there's a new poll out showing Chet Edwards leading wingnut/DeLay lackey Arlene Wohlgemuth by 10 points. Keep in mind, that it is a partisan poll. However, it is still a very impressive result, and indicates that Edwards very likely has a significant edge.
Congressman Chet Edwards leads Arlene Wohlgemuth by a commanding 10-point margin in the race for Texas Congressional District 17, according to a poll of 450 likely voters conducted October 11-13 by the respected Washington, DC polling firm of Bennett, Petts and Blumenthal. The poll shows Edwards leading Wohlgenuth 50% - 40% and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9%.
